The Corsair was designed for a 6V Speed 400 motor on 7 or 8 cells, but it can also be powered by a small brushless motor for even more impressive performance. But while the plane took out a ton of Axis thugs and Commies, it also took out more than a few of its own pilots. It also saw action in the Korean War and in the 1969 Soccer War. As with all our Jim Ryan kits, wings are not included - you can cut wings from foam using templates included on the plans or you can order them pre-cut from from Eureka Aircraft. The Vought F4U Corsair was one of the best planes that took to the air during World War II. for its inverted gull appearance with great length of fuselage ahead of its cockpit. The short kit includes laser-cut balsa and plywood parts, a pre-drilled balsa nose/cowl block, pre-shaped wing joiner blocks, vacuum-formed canopy, and full-size printed plans. The Vought F4U Corsair was a high performance fighter aircraft. Overall, it's an easy to build warbird of balsa and foam construction. The fuselage is built over an internal disposable crutch, and the trademark inverted gull wing uses special joiner pieces to produce the characteristic bent look and avoid the "broken wing" appearance of most sport scale Corsairs. The carefully-engineered Corsair model is designed from the ground up to make it possible to build a light and simple version of this complex airframe.
